Town Hall: Wrestling with Politics: Art, Design & Activism in Asia

February 27, 2019, 7–9 pm

Nave Alcove, SF campus

Cosponsored by CCA Architecture Division, the President’s Diversity Steering Group, and HTX

Held at a historical moment when the Philippines, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, and several other Asian nations were witnessing intense political debate and struggle, this town hall invited the CCA community to explore the question: What are potential roles for artists, designers, and other concerned individuals in understanding, reflecting upon, and intervening in these events? How might we promote and practice forms of peaceful, open dialogue across political differences, both abroad and here at CCA? Members of the CCA community were asked to share their perspectives and engage in open-minded discussion.
